On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Faculty of Law at UGM, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the DIY Provincial Attorney General\u2019s Office, successfully held a \u201cSuluh Praja\u201d legal outreach event at the Karangwuni Village Office in Wates District, Kulon Progo Regency, DIY Province. This legal outreach program aimed to provide legal insights and knowledge to the attendees\u2014village officials and the surrounding community\u2014regarding common legal issues. This edition of \u201cSuluh Praja\u201d focused on the theme \u201cDomestic Violence and Tourism Development\u201d to provide legal insights regarding sanctions for domestic violence as well as knowledge about sustainable community-based ecotourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began at 9:30 a.m. with opening remarks by Anwar Musadad, representing the Head of Karangwuni Village, followed by a group singing of the national anthem, \u201cIndonesia Raya.\u201d The event continued with a presentation by the Assistant for Civil and Administrative Affairs, Anang Zaki Kurniawan, S.H., M.H., along with a team from the DIY High Prosecutor\u2019s Office, who presented material on the duties, responsibilities, and functions of the civil and administrative affairs division within the Indonesian Attorney General\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, a legal awareness session was led by a guest lecturer from the UGM Faculty of Law, Dr. Sigid Riyanto, S.H., M.Si., to provide insights into the definition and penalties for domestic violence. Following that, Dr. Fajar Winarni, S.H., M.Hum., presented on sustainable community-based ecotourism. All speakers, both from the DIY Provincial Attorney General\u2019s Office and from the Faculty of Law at UGM, actively engaged in discussions during the Q&A session with the village officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentations by all the speakers were delivered in an interactive and engaging manner, facilitating productive discussions. The lecturers also answered participants\u2019 questions clearly and offered practical solutions. It is hoped that this legal awareness session will support SDG Goal 8 in terms of promoting decent work and economic growth, SDG Goal 11 in creating sustainable cities and communities, and to contribute to efforts in strengthening an inclusive and peaceful society in line with SDG Goal 16 to foster peace, justice, and resilient institutions starting at the village government level, as well as to strengthen partnerships to achieve better outcomes in accordance with SDG Goal 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
