On Tuesday (May 27, 2025), the UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor\u2019s Office, successfully held a \u201cSuluh Praja\u201d legal outreach event at the Hagotirto Village Office, Kokap Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. This legal outreach program aimed to provide legal insights and knowledge to the attendees\u2014village officials and the surrounding community\u2014regarding common legal issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This edition of Suluh Praja focuses on the theme \u201cIslamic Marriage and Inheritance Law and MSME Taxation\u201d to provide legal insights regarding the importance of understanding Islamic marriage and inheritance law from an Islamic legal perspective, as well as to raise awareness and understanding among small business owners regarding tax obligations, the benefits of tax compliance, and the tax facilities and incentives available to MSMEs. This legal outreach program educates the community and village officials on Islamic marriage and inheritance law, as well as SME taxes. This directly supports SDG 4\u2019s goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities, including legal education for rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began at 9:30 a.m. with opening remarks by Tukiyo, representing the Head of Hargotirto Village, followed by a group performance of the national anthem, \u201cIndonesia Raya.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event continued with a legal education session presented by a guest lecturer from the UGM Faculty of Law, Dr. Hartini, S.H., M.Si., who spoke on the topic \u201cIslamic Marriage and Inheritance\u201d to provide insights into Islamic marriage and inheritance law from an Islamic legal perspective. The material on Islamic marriage and inheritance law is closely related to gender equality issues, such as women\u2019s rights in marriage, divorce, and inheritance. Providing legal understanding in this context supports gender equality in the family and social spheres. This aligns with SDG Goal 5 on gender equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, the presentation was delivered by Florencia Irena Gunawan, S.H., LL.M.(Adv), who spoke on the topic of \u201cTaxes for MSMEs,\u201d alongside Ms. Darmini Setio Purbo, a representative from the DIY Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes, to provide insights regarding small business owners\u2019 understanding of tax obligations, the benefits of tax compliance, and the tax facilities and incentives available to MSMEs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event then continued with a presentation by Nurhadi, S.H., M.H., and his team from the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor\u2019s Office, who discussed the duties, responsibilities, and functions of the civil and administrative law division within the Indonesian Attorney General\u2019s Office. All speakers\u2014both from the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor\u2019s Office and from the Faculty of Law at UGM\u2014actively participated in a question-and-answer session with the village officials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentations were delivered interactively and engagingly, resulting in a productive discussion. The lecturers responded to participants' questions clearly and constructively. This legal outreach program is expected to contribute to achieving Goal 16 of the SDGs\u2014promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions starting from the village level\u2014as well as supporting Goal 17 by strengthening partnerships to achieve broader development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
