On Monday, May 26, 2025, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), through the Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), successfully held a legal outreach program titled \u201cSuluh Praja\u201d, in collaboration with the High Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Yogyakarta Special Region (Kejati DIY). This event was hosted at the Timbulharjo Village Office, Sewon Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, DIY Province. Aimed at village officials and the surrounding community, the program focused on increasing legal awareness on common issues faced at the local level. This edition of Suluh Praja addressed the theme \u201cFormulation of Village Regulations and Contract Law\u201d, which was chosen due to its relevance to everyday governance and community life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began at 09.30 AM with welcoming remarks from Mr. Anif Arkham Haybar, S.Pd., Head of Timbulharjo Village, followed by the singing of the national anthem, \u201cIndonesia Raya\u201d. The first session was led by Mr. Ye Oceng Almahdaly, S.H., M.H., from the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor\u2019s Office, who provided an overview of the duties, roles, and legal authority of the civil and administrative division of the Indonesian Attorney General\u2019s Office. This presentation highlighted the state's role in ensuring inclusive and transparent legal assistance, aligning with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following session was presented by a lecturer from FH UGM, Mr. Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub&Int.Law., Ph.D., who explained the foundational principles and procedures for formulating village regulations. He stressed the importance of legality, public participation, and alignment with national legal hierarchy to create fair and responsive local rules. Then, Dr. Raden Ajeng Antari Inaka Turingsih, S.H., M.Hum., discussed Contract Law, a crucial legal area frequently encountered in both personal and institutional contexts. Her presentation contributed to SDG 4: Quality Education, by enhancing public knowledge of rights and obligations in legal agreements. Quality Education<\/em>, melalui peningkatan pengetahuan hukum yang aplikatif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An interactive discussion followed, where village officials raised questions about the formal validity of regulations, regulatory overlaps, and real-world applications of legal contracts. Both representatives from the Prosecutor\u2019s Office and FH UGM lecturers provided clear and solution-oriented answers. The engaging delivery and approachable discussion format fostered active participation and enthusiasm among the audience. Beyond increasing legal understanding, the event strengthened trust in public institutions and academic involvement in community empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This legal outreach exemplifies the collaborative effort between academic institutions, legal bodies, and local governance to support the Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, it advances SDG 16 by promoting effective, accountable institutions at the village level and ensuring access to justice. Additionally, the partnership between FH UGM and the Prosecutor\u2019s Office reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing the importance of cross-sector collaboration to drive sustainable legal and social development. It is hoped that similar initiatives can be expanded to more regions across Indonesia to nurture a legally literate, just, and empowered society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
