Following the successful implementation of a community service program in the Anambas Islands Regency from April to May 2025, students from the Master\u2019s Program in Health Law (MHKes) and the Center for Legal Consultation and Assistance (PKBH) at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), in collaboration with TVRI Yogyakarta, organized the Pro Justicia Program under the theme \u201cReaching the Far Corners of the Country: Community Service in Letung, Anambas Islands Regency.\u201d This event aims to raise public awareness regarding health law issues in one of the Remote Border Island Regions (DTPK), namely the village of Letung, located in Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pro Justicia program was broadcast live from the TVRI Yogyakarta studio on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) starting at 3:00 p.m. WIB, featuring speakers from the faculty and students of the UGM Faculty of Law. Representing the faculty was Dr. Dinarjati Eka Puspitasari, S.H., M.Hum., from the Department of Environmental Law, and representing the students were Dr. Nabila Khairunisa and Laode Akbar Alikhan, S.H., who are students in the Master of Health Law program at the UGM Faculty of Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this initiative, faculty members and students from the UGM Faculty of Law addressed the health challenges faced by the community, as well as by medical and healthcare workers serving in the DTPK region. The uneven distribution of healthcare resources\u2014such as the shortage of medical specialists\u2014and geographical factors resulting from the region\u2019s archipelagic nature remain major obstacles to providing optimal healthcare services. Additionally, efforts are underway to address the issue of smoking in the community by advocating for the drafting of a local regulation (Perda) establishing a smoke-free zone in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is hoped that this event will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 on health and Goal 10 on reducing health service disparities in DTPK. Of course, this initiative is also expected to strengthen partnerships to achieve greater success, in line with the vision of SDG 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
