This event is part of the integrated curriculum for the courses Criminology<\/em> (Bachelor\u2019s), Transnational Crime<\/em>, and Immigration Law<\/em> (Master\u2019s), attended by students from various programs. This public lecture aims to broaden participants\u2019 understanding of international law enforcement practices and cross-border cooperation in addressing cross-jurisdictional crimes such as human trafficking, drug smuggling, cybercrime, terrorism, as well as corruption and money laundering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kegiatan ini merupakan bagian dari integrasi pembelajaran untuk mata kuliah Criminology<\/em> (S1), Kejahatan Transnasional<\/em>, and Hukum Keimigrasian<\/em> (S2) yang diikuti oleh mahasiswa dari berbagai program. Kuliah umum ini bertujuan memperluas wawasan peserta terhadap praktik penegakan hukum internasional dan kerja sama lintas negara dalam menghadapi kejahatan lintas yurisdiksi seperti perdagangan orang, penyelundupan narkotika, kejahatan siber, terorisme, hingga korupsi dan pencucian uang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the presentation, Brig. Gen. Untung outlined the mandate and strategic role of the Indonesian NCB Interpol as a liaison between the Indonesian National Police and Interpol\u2019s 196 member countries through the I-24\/7 information exchange system, as well as various global operations such as Lionfish<\/em>, Turquesa<\/em>, and Haechi<\/em>. In addition, the real challenges faced were also discussed, such as human resource limitations, regulatory barriers, and the vulnerability to cross-border cybercrime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event reflects the UGM Faculty of Law\u2019s tangible contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the context of SDG 4 on Quality Education, this lecture provides students with direct learning opportunities from international legal practitioners. On the other hand, SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions is reflected in the discussion regarding the strengthening of cooperation and the capacity of legal institutions in addressing global crime. Additionally, cross-border collaboration and Indonesia\u2019s active participation in the Interpol network further support the achievement of SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. The discussion also touched on issues such as human trafficking and labor exploitation, which are closely related to SDG 5 and SDG 8. Equally important, efforts to combat environmental crimes and marine pollution carried out through Interpol operations also support the realization of SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This public lecture not only broadens students\u2019 understanding of the dynamics of international law enforcement but also strengthens the synergy between the academic world and law enforcement institutions. The UGM Faculty of Law is committed to continuing to provide relevant and contextually relevant learning opportunities as part of its contribution to the development of a fair, resilient, and sustainable legal system in Indonesia and globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This public lecture was also streamed online for Master of Law graduate students in Jakarta, with support from the Faculty of Law, including the provision of accommodations, documentation, and a replay via the UGM Legal Knowledge Channel. Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., was also present as a faculty advisor during the interactive discussion session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this forum, the UGM Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to continuing to bridge the gap between academic discourse and global legal practice as a tangible contribution to inclusive and sustainable legal development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
