The Doctoral Program in Law held a guest lecture on Saturday (November 23, 2024). The lecture was attended by students from the Doctoral Program in Law who are taking the course \u201cLaw and Globalization.\u201d The guest lecture was conducted in a hybrid format in Room B.5.4 and was broadcast via Zoom and the Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Law\u2019s \u201cKanal Pengetahuan\u201d YouTube channel.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The topic of this guest lecture was \u201cGlobal Economic and Political Challenges,\u201d featuring Prof. Dr. Poppy Sulistyaning Winanti, S.IP., M.PP., a faculty member in the International Relations Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this guest lecture, Prof. Poppy explained the challenges currently facing the global community, such as trade wars, climate change, and geopolitical situations that create uncertainty and competition among superpowers. Prof. Poppy also elaborated on the criteria defining global issues, noting that such issues are not faced by a single country but rather transcend national borders, and that no single country can resolve them alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Poppy menjelaskan bagaimana persaingan negara adidaya terkhusus Amerika dan China. Persaingan antar negara adidaya tersebut ter-refleksikan dalam setidaknya 5 (lima) aspek yakni : 1) teknologi dan inovasi, termasuk teknologi artificial intelligence, <\/em>and autonomous vehicles; <\/em>2) persaingan mendapatkan akses pasar; 3) persaingan sumber daya alam; 4) pengaruh politik; dan 5) keamanan (tradisional maupun non-tradisional).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prof. Poppy explained the competition among superpowers, particularly between the United States and China. This competition among superpowers is reflected in at least five aspects, namely: 1) technology and innovation, including artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles; 2) competition for market access; 3) competition for natural resources; 4) political influence; and 5) security (both traditional and non-traditional).<\/p>\n\n\n\n This guest lecture serves as a means to deepen understanding of globalization and to encourage participants to always act wisely.
