On Friday (November 23, 2024), the Master of Health Law Student Association (KMMHKes) held a meeting to discuss its 2024\u20132025 work program. The meeting was attended by the Acting Head of the Master\u2019s Program in Health Law, Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A. In his opening remarks, Jaka Triyana emphasized that this meeting should produce flagship work programs, particularly in the area of community service. Health service initiatives in Remote, Border, and Island Areas (DTPK) must be implemented to achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unequal distribution of health care in Indonesia remains an issue that requires special attention from the government. There are still many pressing health issues within the community, particularly in DTPK. Difficulties in accessing health care\u2014such as the distance to community health centers and referral hospitals, a shortage of medications, and a lack of medical personnel in DTPK\u2014result in their health rights not being fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The KMMHKes work program for 2024\u20132025 will focus on community service in DTPK areas. These activities will begin with a partner village in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), where health awareness remains low. Community service outside of DIY will be conducted in collaboration with Doctorshare, a healthcare service provider in the Anambas Islands. Given the diverse backgrounds of KMMHKes students (medicine, law, pharmacy, and others), they are expected to be able to resolve public health-related legal issues. The UGM Faculty of Law is fully committed to supporting the achievement of the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help realize a healthy Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
