Yogyakarta, September 4 2024 \u2013 Students from Master of Litigation Law Faculty of Law UGM held a legal counseling on Wednesday (4\/8\/24) in Yogyakarta City Police Criminal Investigation Unit. This counseling was aimed to improve the investigator\u2019s sensitivity and knowledge in handling people with disabilities that faced the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this legal counseling, these investigators were provided with knowledge related to the rights of the people with disabilities, the interaction ethics, and the inclusive and accessible approach. The objective of this training was to enhance the knowledge of the investigator in handling the criminal cases that involving the people with disabilities, both in the preliminary inquiry and criminal investigation, in order to manifest a fair and just legal enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This event also supported the goals in SDGs, especially with the 10th goal on Reducing Inequalities, 11th goal that emphasized on the inclusivity in cities area, and the 16th point that focuses on strengthening the peace, justice, and strong institutions. Through this training, it is expected that the investigator can be more sensitive towards the importance of inclusivity in the legal system, especially to the people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop participants included unit heads, section heads, sub-section heads, investigators, and assistant investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Yogyakarta City Police, as well as law students from UGM and members of the general public.
