The Master of Laws (MIH) and Master in Laws (LLM) programs at the UGM Faculty of Law held a three-day orientation for the Class of 2024, running from Wednesday, August 14, to Friday, August 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The orientation is a mandatory program for all new students and covers the learning system, academic and non-academic policies, and campus facilities. It also introduces students to academic culture at both national and global levels, and includes an online legal research training component.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day, students were introduced to key aspects of the MIH program: academic staff, student organizations, student services, financial policies, the research unit, and the faculty's commitment to an anti-plagiarism culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Yance Arizona, S.H., M.H., M.A. presented the Faculty of Law's vision: to become a globally competitive, innovative faculty that contributes to national interests and humanity. Its mission centers on excellent legal education, socially beneficial research, and collaboration with national and international institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Research and Publication Unit (URP) of the UGM Faculty of Law, comprising the Research Division, Publication Division, and Knowledge Management Division, plays an important role in supporting students and lecturers in research and academic publication. Through grant programs including the Student Research Grant (Hibah Penelitian Mahasiswa), the URP aims to nurture student interest in legal research and produce high-quality academic publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bernadus Purnawan, S.S. facilitated a session on the Academic Information System and Student Services, introducing students to the MIH curriculum and the courses on offer. The session closed with students collectively completing their course registration (KRS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuliana Setiyarini, S.Mn. then presented on Financial Policies, covering administrative services such as leave applications, study extensions, and fee deferral or refund procedures, as well as the re-registration process and the use of student assistance funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Umar Mubdi, S.H., M.A., closed the first day with a session on Academic Culture and Anti-Plagiarism, stressing principles such as honesty, openness, and critical thinking. He also explained the various forms of plagiarism and applicable sanctions, with reference to Ministerial Regulation No. 17 of 2010 (Permendikbud 17\/2010).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this orientation, the Faculty of Law UGM hopes that new students can begin their academic journey with a thorough understanding of the educational system, academic culture, and support available on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
