Saturday (1\/6\/2024) until Sunday (2\/6\/24), Herliana, S.H., M.ComLaw., Ph.D., one of the lecturer from Civil Law Department attended The International Conference on APU CIL Inclusion X Sustainability APU 2024 Center for Inclusive Leadership Conference<\/em>. This conference was held in Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Japan. Her attendance was to presented the paper<\/em> with the title: Unraveling Legal Barriers: Exploring Women\u2019s Access to Justice in Indonesia and Lessons for Asian Contexts<\/em>Aside from that, Herliana also introduced the The Center for Competition, Intellectual Property, and Dispute Settlement Studies (CICODS) encourages conference participants to expand their networks and explore opportunities for collaboration. The paper<\/em> presented at this conference <\/em>will later be published in an international journal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conference, Herliana presented her critical perspective on misconceptions that limit women\u2019s prospects, along with the cultural impact and the legal bias that strengthen the established gender norms. Her presentation also highlighted on the religious standard, despite interpreted differently, is potential to weaken the woman\u2019s position, especially in the context of family lives and their legal rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Herliana also revealed that traditional culture in Indonesia plays a role in perpetuating discriminatory treatment of women, especially in terms of marriage, inheritance, and household obligations. This culture often creates boundaries that make it difficult for women to achieve equality. To achieve true justice, Herliana emphasized the need for joint efforts to eliminate these boundaries and advance gender equality within a religious and cultural framework. She also underlined the importance of empowering women through increasing awareness of their rights and the courage to challenge discriminatory customs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
