The event featured Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahfud Mahmodin, S.H., S.U., M.I.P. former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and Dr. Rahmat Shah. The session was moderated by Almonika Cindy Fatika Sari, S.H., M.A., and centered on key issues surrounding education, moral intelligence, and the role of law students in shaping Indonesia's future.

The lecture opened with a brief introduction by the moderator, who emphasized the importance of education in fostering both intellectual and moral intelligence among students. This theme resonated throughout the event, as both speakers highlighted the pressing need for a harmonization of these two forms of intelligence in the context of Indonesia's current socio-political landscape.

Prof. Mahfud addressed the concept of harmonizing intellectual and moral intelligence, arguing that while academic knowledge is essential, it must be grounded in strong ethical values. He contended that the erosion of moral standards in society stems from precisely this imbalance, and urged students to develop both dimensions in their personal lives and in their professional conduct.

Dr. Rahmat Shah built on this by discussing law students' role as the nation's future leaders, calling on the younger generation to take a proactive stance against moral degradation and to engage in critical thinking and ethical reasoning, qualities indispensable to becoming responsible legal professionals.

Both speakers also addressed the interrelation of intellectual and moral harmony with the Attitudes, Ethics, and Professional Conduct of Legal Practitioners (Sikap Mental dan Etika Profesi Hukum/SMEPH), stressing that a firm grounding in both forms of intelligence is essential for law students to navigate the complexities of the profession and to contribute positively to society.

Throughout the lecture, both speakers shared personal experiences and motivational insights aimed at inspiring the Justicia Muda. They emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and the need for students to equip themselves to support the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045 (Indonesia Emas 2045).

The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which the Justicia Muda actively participated, raising questions about the challenges they face in balancing academic achievement with ethical considerations. The speakers offered thoughtful responses, reinforcing the idea that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge but about developing character and integrity.

The public lecture served not only as an educational platform but also as a call to action for the Justicia Muda to embrace their roles as agents of change. By fostering a harmonious relationship between intellectual and moral intelligence, they can contribute to a more just and equitable society.

The UGM Faculty of Law continues to play a vital role in shaping Indonesia's future through its commitment to quality education and the promotion of ethical values among its students. Events like this public lecture within Pionir Justicia are essential in preparing the next generation of legal professionals for the challenges ahead.

Dalam rangka Pionir Justicia, Fakultas Hukum UGM selenggarakan kuliah tamu yang bertajuk “Justicia Muda Katalisator Harmoni Kecerdasan Bangsa” pada Rabu (31/7/2024).
