{"id":24093,"date":"2023-12-27T14:30:28","date_gmt":"2023-12-27T07:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/?p=24093"},"modified":"2023-12-29T14:31:54","modified_gmt":"2023-12-29T07:31:54","slug":"speciality-fh-ugm-raih-juara-1-dalam-law-santara-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/en\/speciality-fh-ugm-raih-juara-1-dalam-law-santara-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"UGM Faculty of Law\u2019s SPECIALITY Team Wins First Place at Law Santara 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"translation-block\">The Speech and Law Debate Society (SPECIALITY) of the Faculty of Law, UGM, won first place at the Santara Law Student Debate Competition held by the Faculty of Law, Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University (FH UAJY), on Saturday (December 2, 2023). The SPECIALITY FH UGM delegation consisted of Alfarizi Rona Putra Setiana (class of 2023) as Delegation Chair, Lidya Margaretha (class of 2022) and Philips Samuel Tua Sitorus (class of 2023) as Delegation Members, and Farikha Aulia Hanum (class of 2023) as an official.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Law, UAJY, this legal debate competition centered on the overarching theme \u201cThe Transformation of Indonesian Law to Realize Golden Indonesia 2045 and a Law-Aware Society.\u201d The competition began with the submission of debate argumentation videos from each team\u2019s delegation. Subsequently, the four teams with the highest cumulative scores advanced to the semifinals, which were held in person at the UAJY Faculty of Law building. The debate format used in the semifinals was the Asian Parliamentary system. The semifinals employed a single-elimination format until only the two top teams remained to advance to the finals, while the two losing teams from the semifinals were required to compete in the third-place match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">After going through a series of competitions, teams from Gadjah Mada University and Brawijaya University were selected to advance to the final round. The final round was attended by the former Deputy Regent of Sleman for the 2010\u20132015 term, Dr. Hj. Yuni Satia Rahayu, SS., M.Hum., a legislative drafter from the DIY Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ni Made Wulan, S.H., M.H., and a Lecturer in Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law, UAJY, Dr. Benediktus Hestu Cipto Handoyo, S.H., M.H., served as the panel of judges. The motion debated in the final round was \u201cThe Controversy Over Age Limits for Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates as a Determinant of Capability as Head of State,\u201d with the SPECIALITY delegation from the UGM Faculty of Law serving as the \u201cpro\u201d team. The SPECIALITY delegation from the UGM Faculty of Law won the match by securing the 3 highest victory points from all 3 judges.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of this achievement, the SPECIALITY FH UGM delegation would like to thank all those who provided support throughout the competition series. We hope that other UGM Faculty of Law students will be motivated to hone their critical thinking skills and their ability to articulate their opinions effectively.
