On August 7\u201310, 2023, Pertamina Corporate University (PCU), in collaboration with the Center for Law, Gender, and Society (LGS) at the UGM Faculty of Law, held two sessions of the \u201cTraining on the Prevention and Handling of Violence and Harassment (PPKP) in the Workplace\u201d at The Patra Bali. This training is a follow-up to the development of the PPKP module in collaboration with Pertamina and is also part of a series of activities planned to enhance the capacity of Pertamina employees. The trainers for this session were Ms. Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, Ms. Nabiyla Risfa Izzati, and Ms. Diantika Rindam Floranti from the LGS Center at the UGM Faculty of Law. This initiative demonstrates Pertamina\u2019s commitment to implementing its Respectful Workplace Policy and its dedication to serving as a pioneer in complying with Minister of Manpower Decree No. 88 of 2023 on Guidelines for PPKP in the Workplace.<\/p>\n

This training was specifically attended by participants who are employees of PT Pertamina Persero and its subsidiaries who play strategic roles in the formulation and implementation of PPKP policies. During the training, the material presented by the LGS facilitators was tailored to Pertamina\u2019s context; for example, Pertamina\u2019s diverse business lines can give rise to varying risks of violence, necessitating a PPKP that is responsive and tailored to the needs of each business line. The presenters shared insights and provided education on the urgency and implementation of PPKP from the perspectives of international law, criminal law, labor law, and best practices observed in the field. Although the training included lectures, it prioritized active participant engagement, featuring frequent discussions\u2014such as case studies, analysis of existing company policies, and examination of potential gender biases\u2014to help participants contextualize their prior knowledge with insights gained from the training.<\/p>\n

The training was also attended by Pertamina\u2019s Director of Human Resources, Mr. Ery Sugiharto, so that participants, together with LGS, had the opportunity to present the Follow-Up Plan\u2014which was the result of discussions among all participants\u2014directly to Mr. Ery Sugiharto. Mr. Ery Sugiharto\u2019s presence provided an opportunity for constructive discussion, which is expected to accelerate the fulfillment of the obligation to establish a Task Force on Sexual Violence in the Workplace in accordance with Minister of Manpower Decree No. 88\/2023.<\/p>\n

This training is expected to enhance the capacity of Pertamina employees to identify sexual violence and implement a responsive, victim-centered Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Policy (PPKP). Additionally, at the end of the training, participants demonstrated their commitment to becoming agents of change and actively participating in the development of Pertamina\u2019s policies regarding the PPKP.<\/p>\n
