This year\u2019s competition centered on a hypothetical case concerning the criminal responsibility of a military commander who: (1) compelled civilians and prisoners of war to work in support of enemy military operations; (2) employed strategically placed landmines that resulted in civilian casualties; and (3) intentionally attacked a historic monument protected under international law due to its central role in supporting a militaristic regime.<\/p><p>Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition was conducted virtually by the host institution, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Padjadjaran, in Bandung. The competition consisted of two stages: the Memorials Round and the Oral Rounds. During the Memorials Round, participating teams were required to prepare two legal memorials of 4,000 words each, representing both the Prosecutor and the Defense Counsel.
