    Open Senate Meeting To Celebrate the 63th "Dies Natalis" Faculty of Law UGM

    To celebrate the 63rd “Dies Natalis” Faculty of Law UGM was held a senate open meeting on Tuesday 17 February 2009. The meeting which was presented by all the academic staffs Faculty of Law UGM and some guests was started with the speech from the dean of Faculty of Law UGM Prof. Dr. Marsudi Triatmodjo, S.H., LL. M. about the yearly report in the year 2008 and an oration which is delivered by Faculty of Law UGM’s alumni from year 1978 that is now a professor in Faculty of Law Universitas Andalas, Padang, and Universitas Trisakti Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ade Saptomo, S.H., M.A. entitled “Revitalisasi Hukum Adat Nusantara ke Dalam Pengembangan Ilmu Hukum dan Pengembangan Hukum Nasional Indonesia". “Revitalization of Nusantara’s Adat Law in the development of Legal Science and the development of Indonesian National Law”

    In his report The Dean of Faculty of Law UGM stated that in 9 October 2008 there was a Dean substitution in Faculty of Law UGM from the Dean period of 2004-2008 to the new Dean period of 2008-2012. In his report he also added the situation and the development that has been reached by the Faculty of Law UGM in the year 2008 which included in education area, research and scientific activities, peole services, and other activities as the implementation of University’s Tri Dharma.

    In other session, in his oration Prof. Dr. Ade Saptomo, S.H., M.A. which had theme ‘traditional wisdom’ he made some conclusions. First, there was a phenomenon of interaction between local law and state law in dealing with agrarian resources. Therefore, the legislator of this country should have well understood the diversities of local society law to discuss between state law and local law and also cooperate between national interest and local society. Secondly, behind the interaction between adat law and state law, there was cultural order and structural order (national and global). Cultural order was kept remain through the local institution way, while structural order was kept in order in global order facilitated by the state.
